Chad’s home made barbeque sauce

This tangy sauce is the perfect complement for Chad’s home made cheese burgers.

Ingredients:

  • half a large mild onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2×15ml spoons olive oil
  • 2×15ml spoons wine vinegar
  • 25g brown sugar
  • 3×15ml spoons soy sauce
  • 3×15ml spoons tomato ketchup
  • 1×5ml spoon English mustard
  • 150ml apple juice

Equipment:

  • Sharp knife (make sure you get an adult to help you)
  • Chopping board
  • Weighing scales
  • Small saucepan
  • Wooden spoon

Method:

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion.
  2. Peel and crush the garlic.
  3. Heat the oil over a medium heat, in the small saucepan.
  4. Add the onion and garlic and cook until it is soft, this will take about 10 minutes.
  5. Add all the other ingredients and bring to the boil. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes, until the sauce is thick and shiny.
