Chad’s home made cheeseburgers

Serves 4

These burgers are really easy to make. Every aspiring dancer needs to have plenty of nutritious food to build strength and endurance. Just think of all the jumping and spinning! You can cook these burgers on the barbeque, in the oven, in a griddle or frying pan on the hob.

Ingredients:

  • half a large mild onion
  • 400g lean beef steak mince
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2×15ml spoons yoghurt
  • 1×15ml spoon parsley (chopped)
  • 1×15ml olive oil (optional if you have a non stick pan)
  • 8 x slices of thinly sliced Cheddar cheese

Equipment:

  • 2 x bowls
  • Frying pan
  • Small pan
  • Sharp knife (make sure you get an adult to help you)
  • Chopping board
  • Measuring spoons
  • Wooden spoon
  • Fish slice

Method:

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion.
  2. Put the mince into a bowl, add black pepper, yoghurt and parsley.
  3. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined. You may find that using clean hands is the easiest way to do this.
  4. Divide into four equal portions.
  5. Shape each portion into a burger shape and pat down lightly.
  6. Add a little oil to the frying pan and warm over a medium heat. When the oil is hot, place the burgers into the frying pan and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side depending on the size. Check the burgers are cooked in the middle before serving.
  7. Cut the tomato in thin slices.
  8. Slice the burger buns in half and serve with a slice of tomato and top with cheese and barbeque sauce.

Top tip

Make sure that you wash your hands after touching raw meat and keep the raw meat well away from other ingredients.
